The Basics

What are people saying about this color?

An oversized white open quotation mark indicating a quote.
Simply White has a yellow undertone, which can be subtle at times. It can also be noticeable but it’s never obnoxious. It really helps give a bit of life to any surface. Simply White’s undertones make it a highly versatile and fantastic paint colour. Some swear that it also has a slight hint of grey or green tint, especially in areas that don’t receive much light or where there are shadows, like in the corners of a room. This is why it can pair nicely with light grey and warm greige paint colours.

Simply White is a warm white, and it felt to us the cleanest and the most versatile. It looked fresh with a warm palette or a cool palette. It’s nothing like yellow teeth. White should never go in that direction. - Benjamin Moore creative director Ellen O’Neill

Benjamin Moore called Simply White a perfectly neutral white. It is a bit cooler and fresher than Cloud White, Bergeron said, and warmer than Oxford White and warmer than Decorator’s White … It is warmer without being creamy. For a white to be warm, it doesn’t need a strong yellow undertone.

What kind of spaces does it work best in?

According to ontomywardrobe.com, "Simply White may appear warmer and more yellow-toned if introduced to south-facing or midday western sunlight. Simply White can have a more natural warmth, also the undertones usually shine through if you have north-facing or dull light, but you will need good interior lighting to make it a reality.”

Who shouldn't pick this color?

"‘Simply White’ is not a true white. Because of it’s pale yellow undertones it is a very warm white. If you are looking for a true, standard pure white do not choose this one. However, if you are look for an off-white that gives off a lot of warmth this is good choice (no harsh, hospital vibes with this white).” Via providenthomedesign.com.
